Our consumer is a disabled veteran with balance and chronic pain issues making it difficult for her to go in and out of the front of the house. Her house was built in 2012 with no railing alongside the steps, so she avoided going in and out of the front of her home. She used the garage steps and had slipped several times. She learned about Ai at a community event and contacted us. Ai went out and built her handrails to the front door of her home. She feels so blessed now with safety rails and the ease of going in and out. She feels better about it for her grand twins also.

We had the pleasure of installing a ramp for a Marine Corp veteran who has minimal use of his legs to provide him with the independence he needs. Although he does not want to live his entire life confined to a wheelchair, he will often get around without it. He has knee pads on his pants. He is strong, he is brave, he served his country, and it was our honor to be able to provide him with the necessary tools to live a more independent life. 

Recently one of our consumers achieved a victory of independence by receiving services through the CCC Plus Wavier program, this individual was able to obtain work-from-home employment assisting others with their benefits. They were also able to write a book about their failures and victories. Because of accomplishing this goal, the consumer will no longer be eligible for services, but they are eternally grateful for the support and assistance Access Independence offered them throughout their service career.
